Zunaid Bulbulia has had a stellar career in both the finance and telecommunications industries. Now a CFO at Mobile Outsourcing Services, a subsidiary of black empowered Morvest Group, he started out as a trainee at Arthur Andersen and Co. After two years there, he joined MTN SA as financial manager, where he continued to serve in various positions, including CEO, for more than two decades.
Recruited by Huge Telecom in 2016, he spent 2 years as CFO and one year as a non-executive director. With all the financial and managerial experience he has, Bulbulia now works as an advisory board member for Kirusa and FNB Islamic Bank. He’s also an adjunct professor at the Wits Business School. As if that wasn’t enough, he’s turned his knowledge and skills into a business, with an international consultancy catering to the telecommunications sector.
Zunaid Bulbulia earned his Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting at the University of Witwatersrand. He then received a Bachelor of Accounting Science Honors Degree from the University of South Africa. He has since built an impressive career that any professional, financial or otherwise, would envy.
He’s been called a catalyst and an enabler. He’s been hailed for empowering others along the way. The word humble is bound to come up when describing him. He’s a man of strong values that have informed his style of leadership throughout his professional life. Zunaid is an inspiration for many, especially for the Islamic community and financial professionals of colour.
An advisory role, a teaching position, and a consultancy business. These three are enough to keep one busy on their own, as laid back as they seem. Together, those three responsibilities are not easy to deal with. It’s a good thing Mr. Bulbulia is used to having a lot of responsibility, hence his ability to juggle all three. The man is a perfect example of how you can pursue your career in finance on your own terms. We could all learn a thing or two from his track record.
Hi, I adore your blog! I tend to agree with your point as I am currently employed as an accountant for a full-service BPO company.
